Queer & Sober (Q&S) is a foundation dedicated to creating a vibrant, alcohol-free community within the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Our journey began three years ago in Amsterdam, born out of a simple but profound realization: the need for genuine connection shouldn't depend on a drink in your hand or the use of substances.

How it all started

The spark for Q&S came from our founder’s personal experience. After choosing a sober lifestyle, he noticed a significant gap in the social scene. While his personal growth was flourishing, his old social circles didn't always evolve with him. He found that most queer events were heavily centered around nightlife and alcohol and substances, making it difficult to meet like-minded people in a comfortable setting.

Driven by the belief that "there must be a better way," he founded Q&S to bridge that gap.

Growing Beyond Amsterdam

What started as a local initiative has quickly blossomed into a national movement. Following numerous successful events in Amsterdam, we realized the demand for sober spaces was everywhere. Today, Q&S is active in:

• Amsterdam

• Rotterdam

• The Hague

• Utrecht

Each city is led by its own dedicated Ambassador, ensuring that our monthly events are tailored to the local community and scheduled so they never overlap. This allows our members the freedom to visit events in different cities if they wish!

More Than Just "Not Drinking"

At Q&S, sobriety is the foundation, but friendship is the result. We aim to build a space where being sober is the norm, allowing for deeper, more authentic connections. Our diverse range of activities includes:

• Active outings: Nature walks and city hikes.

• Deep dives: Facilitated talk groups and peer support.

• Culture: Museum visits and gallery tours.

• Adventure: Exclusive weekend trips abroad to our international partners.
